Antique Wheeler & Wilson Sewing Accessories Carved/Lined Push Button Wooden Box

This beautiful little wood box was produced by Wheeler & Wilson, as a means to store parts and accessories for their sewing machines. Wheeler & Wilson was in the business of making sewing machines here in the United States from around 1853 to around 1913.

This box is very well made, showing tongue and groove joinery on all four corners of the box base and lid.
The inside top, and the inside bottom are lined with a deep purple velvet. The velvet does show some wear, but it is in surprisingly good shape for it's years. 
The design on top looks like it may have been embossed. It is a beautiful design with scrolled acanthus leafs on either side of the circle with the "WHEELER & WILSON SEWING MACHINES just inside making a circular border. In the very center are the letters "W & W"

This box is approximately 8 5/8 inches wide, 3 1/8 inches front to back, and 2 5/5/8 inches tall.

Whether you are a collector of antique boxes, or a collector of antique sewing machine company paraphernalia, this box will be a very, very nice addition to any collection.
